Resilient Water Infrastructure for Egypt’s Climate Future
German Experience, Technologies & Best Practices
curated by German Water Partnership
Session Description & Scope:
Egypt’s water and wastewater infrastructure is facing growing pressure from water scarcity, rising temperatures, changing precipitation patterns, and increasingly frequent extreme weather events. Building resilience therefore requires more than expanding existing systems; it calls for infrastructure that is reliable, adaptable, resource-efficient, and capable of performing under changing climatic and operational conditions. Strengthening the resilience of water systems is becoming a strategic priority for protecting water resources, maintaining essential services, and supporting Egypt’s long-term sustainable development.
This high-level session brings together German technology providers and Egyptian water-sector professionals to explore practical and innovative solutions for climate-resilient water and wastewater infrastructure. The discussion will focus on trenchless rehabilitation, resilient sewer systems, water-loss reduction, advanced leak detection, energy-efficient solutions, and reliable equipment for demanding operating conditions. The session will highlight how proven German technologies, engineering expertise, and international best practices can support Egyptian utilities in modernizing infrastructure, reducing climate vulnerability, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring reliable water and wastewater services for the future.
