Sustainable Technologies, Skilled Operators and Effective Water Utility Management for Resilient Water Services
Session Description & Scope:
This session will explore sustainable and innovative technologies for sanitation and industrial wastewater management. Technology selection must be aligned with local conditions, operational capabilities, and long-term service requirements, while qualified and continuously trained technical cadres are essential for efficient operation and maintenance.
The session will bring together experts, technology providers, utilities, industries, and academic experts to exchange practical experiences, successful applications, and emerging solutions. Particular attention will be given to technologies that can be adapted to Egypt’s local conditions and contribute to a circular water economy, supporting water security, pollution reduction, resource recovery, and the long-term resilience of sanitation and industrial wastewater infrastructure.
A key dimension of the session will also focus on human capital development and institutional capacity building as essential pillars of sustainable water and wastewater services. The discussion will address the need to develop and continuously train qualified technical and administrative cadres within water and wastewater utilities and companies, covering operation and maintenance, process optimization, asset management, occupational safety, environmental compliance, customer-oriented service delivery.
