Smart Water Infrastructure
From Measurement and Monitoring to Data-Driven Operation
curated by German Water Partnership
Session Description & Scope:
Egypt’s water and wastewater infrastructure is facing increasing pressure from urbanisation, rising water demand, limited water resources, and ageing networks. In this context, improving the efficiency and reliability of water services requires more than infrastructure investmen. I t requires accurate data, continuous monitoring, and smarter operational decision-making.
Smart water infrastructure provides utilities with the ability to understand what is happening across their networks in real time. From precise flow measurement and pressure monitoring to leak detection, automation, and intelligent control, digital technologies can make hidden losses and operational challenges visible, enabling earlier intervention and more efficient management of water and wastewater systems.
This session brings together German technology providers and Egyptian water-sector professionals to exchange practical experience and explore how measurement, monitoring, automation, and data-driven solutions can be applied to Egypt’s water infrastructure. The discussion will focus on translating reliable data into better operational decisions, reduced water losses, improved energy efficiency, and more resilient and sustainable services.
